Compare with a similarly shaped ewer, dating to the Song dynasty, currently on exhibition at the Ceramics Gallery in the Palace Museum, and illustrated in Longde Yishu, Hong Kong, 1988, no. 60. The form continued into the Yuan dynasty. Compare with two similar examples, the first is in the Chongqing City Museum, Sichuan province, illustrated in Zhongguo Taoci Quanji, Qingbai of the Song and Yuan Dynasties, vol. 16, Shanghai renmin meishu chubanshe, 1984, no. 134; and the second ewer is in the Palace Museum, Beijing, illustrated by Ye Peilan, Yuandai Ciqi, Beijing, 1998, p. 237, no. 394.
