A PAIR OF PAINTED ENAMEL DISHES
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
Each dish is brightly enamelled and gilt with a shaped central panel enclosing butterflies and a bat in flight above a cluster of flowers, all surrounded by scrolling flowers. The cavetto is decorated with a cell-pattern band with cartouches enclosing butterflies, flowers and fruits. The exterior is decorated with five bats, wufu, and scrolling lotus, and five further bats surrounding a phoenix roundel to the base.
