YONGZHENG PERIOD (1723-1735)
The columnar seal is modelled in square section, surmounted by an arched strap-handle. The seal chop is carved in intaglio with a short poem within a square border.

Lot Essay

The seal chop is an excerpt from the works of the Daoist Bai Yuchan, of the Song period who proposed the maxim that there are no tricks in becoming an immortal even though people would foolishly think otherwise.
