AN ARABIC-INSCRIBED BRONZE INCENSE BOX AND COVER
MING DYNASTY, 16TH CENTURY
The domed cover of the box is cast in relief with a roundel enclosing the Arabic words, Hamdulillah, which may be translated as 'Praise be to Allah' on a stamped ground. It is encircled by banded decoration to the cover and base.
4 1/4 in. (10.8 cm.) diam.
