Of traditional form, on four bracket feet, the slightly tapering base reeded, the back with serrated border, openwork reserves and applied with circular medallion, the hinged cover engraved in Russian ‘Bez soli bez khleba / polovina obeda’ [‘Lunch without salt and bread / is just half a meal], the reverse of the cover engraved with an image of a cockerel, marked under base, cover and on the back
