The planked deck with three removable mast bases and deck grilles, the figurehead carved as an armoured knight, with similar knights each side of the stern galley, painted black and gold on later stand

For a related example see, The Collection of Professor Sir Albert Richardson, P.R.A., Christie's London, 18-19 September 2013, lot 260. The Professor Richardson example which had a galvanised liner, was believed to be a wine cooler made for a Naval tavern and such an object is illustrated in an engraving of a tavern interior by George Cruikshank (1792-1878), entitled Sailors Carousing of circa 1825, a copy of which is held in The National Maritime Museum, Greenwich.
