Inukai Tsuyoshi (1855-1932) was a Japanese politician, cabinet minister, and former Prime Minister of Japan. He was a prominent statesman during the Meiji, Taisho and Showa periods and led the campaign for a constitutional government in Japan. In his early career, Inukai worked as a journalist and reported the Satsuma Rebellion with the Imperial Japanese Army. He was also a close ally of Sun Yat-sen and other figures in the Pan-Asian Movement. Inukai was assassinated in an attempted coup d'tat on 15 May 1932.
