Lot Essay

A report by Jacques Cuisin from the Musée Nationale d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris, stating that the present cup is made from cow horn is available on request.

The paper label under this cup suggests it was used by King Christian II of Denmark in the early 16th century but stylistically the cup would appear to be later.
