Lot Essay

For Christiaan Andriessen's illustrated diary, see lot 41.
The Meermondt house was located on the Amsteldijk. The tea house appears in a drawing by Tinus de Jogh in the Stadsarchief, Amsterdam (Inv. 10097/1007).

The drawing dates from 1805 according to Robert Jan te Rijdt whom we thank for his help in cataloguing this lot.
