Lot Essay

Drawings by Brouwer are rare and none can be directly connected to a painting. The nucleus of Brouwer's drawn work is formed by a group of sheets quickly and loosely executed in pen and brown ink with brown wash showing figures in various poses which are similar to the ones sketched in the present drawing.
