Manuscript on paper in somewhat abbreviated Latin, in brown ink within ruled margins. 174 pages, 16 manuscript illustrations. 18th-century blind-ruled calf, initials of Thomas Wallace on covers (spine perished, covers worn and detached). Provenance: Thomas Wallace (binding; signatures on flyleaves).
A treatise on physics, including considerations of ancient and modern astronomy, illustrated with 16 diagrams showing the spheres of the geocentric universe, the perceived and actual horizon, the relative positions of the sun, the moon and the earth, the heliocentric solar system (here described as the ‘Tychonic system’ [‘De Systemate Tychonis’]) and other subjects.
