A CHINESE CARVED AND PIERCED JADEITE CENSER AND COVER
With two monster-head handles with loose rings, resting on paw-shaped supports terminating in monster masks, the domed cover surmounted by a sinuous chilong and three loose ring lingzhi-form handles, the stone with pale russet and pale green inclusions
7 5/8 in. (19.5 cm.) diam.
Provenance
Private English Collection, acquired circa 1970 from a member of the First American Volunteer Group, nicknamed the "Flying Tigers", who acquired it, by repute, in China during the Second World War.
