The vendor informs us that this gun was purchased new by Christian Bahnsen. On his death it passed to his son Henry Bahnsen (see Lot 140) who in turn gave it to our vendor's father around 40 years ago.

With 28 in. (71 cm.) blacked nitro barrels signed 'CHARLES DALY DIAMOND-QUALITY' and marked 'EXCELSIOR WITTEN STEEL', 2 ½ in. (65mm) chambers, bored approx. ½ and full choke, engraved blued toplever, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE', signed engraved case-hardened treble-bite action with side-clipped fences and cocking-indicators, the underside of the action engraved with two hounds, well figured 14 in. semi-pistolgrip stock with dark horn butt-plate, and white metal escutcheon engraved with the initials 'C.B.', weight 6 lbs. 4 oz., in leather-covered fitted case
