CHINE, DYNASTIE QING, MARQUE A QUATRE CARACTERES ET EPOQUE QIANLONG (1736-1795)
The pendant is carved in the form of a flattened bell and is decorated to each side with archaistic dragons surrounding a four-character inscription in seal script. The bottom section is carved with a band of interlocking serpents. The stone is of a very pale tone with some minor russet inclusions on one side ; small chip to one bottom corner.

Lot Essay

One of the four-character inscriptions is a Qianlong mark reading Qianlong nian zhi. The inscription to the reverse reads zi sun yong bao which can be translated as 'Descendents will remain forever protected'.
