Ceramic pillows of this form were almost certainly inspired by dingyao and qingbai pillows from the Song dynasty. A pair of boys wearing red and blue vests was sold Sotheby's, London, 17 June 1998, lot 480, while a smaller version decorated in underglaze-blue and enamels is illustrated in the Museum für Kunsthandwek, Frankfurt-am-Maine, Catalogue, no. 98.
