Of flattened baluster form, on oval foot with gadrooned border, the body with reeded neck band, and harp-form handle, the flat cover with baluster-form finial; the outer foot and spout added by Hurd circa 1750, marked on neck with Kane mark B and under base with French marks

Jacob Hurd adapted a French shaving jug into a coffee pot by adding a spout and widening the foot. See Hollis French, Jacob Hurd and His Sons, 1972, p. 77, pl. VXII for a coffee pot which uses the same cast spout.
