A LARGE DUTCH SILVER PLAQUE
MAKER'S MARK INDISTINCT, AMSTERDAM, 1685
Embossed in relief, cut-out and mounted on a blue velvet ground, back fitted with a wood panel, the scene depicting a priestly figure in robes and prayer shawl offering a bottle to a military official or warrior king in plumed helmet and cloak and surrounded by soldiers, a casket to one side in the foreground, fruiting vines on either side and clouds overhead, possibly intended to represent the annointing of a biblical monarch
