Lot Essay

The design, proportions and decoration of this cabinet are typical of those produced in Braunschwieg in the middle of the 18th century. Particularly characteristic are the cartouche-shaped panels centred with ivory figures. A comparable cabinet is illustrated in H.Kreisel / G.Himmelheber, Die Kunst des deutschen Mobels, Munich 1970, Vol II, fig 878.
