Ralph Edwards illustrates a chair of apparently identical design from the
collection of The Victoria and Albert Museum, London, in The Shorter
Dictionary of English Furniture (Feltham, 1974, p. 155, pl. 150), and whilst
that chair is dated to circa 1775, comparison is drawn with some of the
designs later published in George Hepplewhite’s Guide of 1788.
