With urn finial, inlaid with an urn and batswing oval patera, the silvered barometer dial signed J. Miller Edinburgh, with various weather indications, also with engraved thermometer plate with alcohol tube, the mercury tube removed

John Miller established his business in Edinburgh in 1771, taking on his nephew Alexander Adie as apprentice in 1789 and making him partner in 1804.
