Lot Essay

'The most valued account of the Rebellion of 1837 is the set of seven ... lithographs after sketches made by ... Beauclerk ... The views are attractive in both coloring and composition, and depict various actions in November and December of 1837, at St. Hilaire de Rouville, St. Charles, and St. Eustache' (M. Allodi 'Prints and Early Illustrations' in The Book of Canadian Antiques, p.304).
