Lot Essay

For similar haniwa figures of wild boars, including an Important Cultural Property in the Tokyo National Museum, see Kobayashi Yukio, Haniwa, vol. 3 of Nihon toji taikei, Tokyo: Heibonsha, 1996, figs. 56-57.

The result of Oxford Authentication Ltd. thermoluminescence test no. N115a21 is consistent with the dating of this lot.
