Lot Essay

Zhan Zhonghe (1488-1505), also known as Zhan He, as well as Xihe and Tieguan Daoren, was from Siming (Ningbo). His calligraphy closely followed the styles of masters Wang Xizhi (303-361) and Zhao Mengfu (1254-1322). It was said that he could write very small characters even when he was seventy years old or more. He was also good at painting ink bamboo and figures.
