TWO OPAQUE JADE HANDLE-SHAPED PENDANTS, HUANG
SOUTHEAST CHINA, NEOLITHIC PERIOD, 3RD MILLENNIUM BC
Each elongated pendant curved downward at the ends with small holes drilled from both sides, one pendant of russet-brown color, the other of mottled ivory and buff color, now in two sections with remains of an ancient repair at the original break
6 1/8 and 6 ¼ in. (13 and 16.2 cm.) long

A pale green jade huang of this shape, dated Neolithic period, c. 2500 BC, is illustrated by Jessica Rawson in Chinese Jade from the Neolithic to the Qing, British Museum, 1995, p. 145, no. 5:13.
