painted with ornithalogical subjects, one af a bittern wading in a rush-bordered river and the other of a cormorant perching on a rock, both within broad turquoise-ground borders enriched in gilt and white enamel with stylised scrolls beneath tooled gilt borders, printed retailer's marks and impressed marks, date codes for 1872 -- 9½in. (24cm.) diam. (slight wear and fritting, slight scratches)
