The face very finely carved with bow-shaped mouth and elongated eyes, flanked by pendulous earlobes pierced with large studs, and surmounted by an tall crown ornately decorated with braided festoons and foliate and water-vase motifs

The decoration of the ornate crown illustrates the interest in surface adornment during the Sui Dynasty, a trend that had developed during the earlier Northern Zhou period (AD 557-581).
