The lower body with combed texture, the mid body burnished below a crisscross band, both divided into five subtle lobes, the neck with burnished stripes separated by a median bow-string band, with a molded spoked medallion in the middle of the concave base

Compare the black pottery jar with similar burnished designs and dated to the Liao dynasty, illustrated by Tsugio Mikami in Sekai Toji Zenshu - 13 - Liao, Jin, Yuan, Tokyo, 1981, p. 162, no. 136, where a brown-glazed vase with shape similar to the present example, also dated to the Liao dynasty, is illustrated, p. 162 no. 137.
