A GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF VAISHRAVANA
18TH-19TH CENTURY
The 'wealth' deity is seated in lalitasana on a double-lotus base with his pendent foot resting on a conch shell above a water vessel. He is holding an offering in his right hand and a mongoose in his left, and is dressed in a flowing dhoti with incised borders. The bearded face is ferocious in expression, with bulging eyes and flaming brows, and is surmounted by a foliate crown, with the hair tied in a topknot.
6 ¾ in. (17.1 cm.) high
