A GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF PADMAPANI
18TH CENTURY
The bodhisattva stands on a lotus base with both hands in vitarka mudra, each holding the stem of a lotus that blossoms at the shoulder. He is dressed in a flared dhoti tied at the waist with a sash and adorned with various necklaces. The face is downcast with heavy-lidded eyes and finely arched brows, and is surmounted by a foliate tiara, with the hair arranged in a chignon and topped with a flaming jewel.
