SPAIN, LATE 15TH/EARLY 16TH CENTURY
On four squat bulbous ivory feet, of rectangular form, the top and sides inlaid with two rows of radiating motifs within a central rectangular panel, the borders with a strap inlaid with lozenges flanked with bands of lozenges forming four squares at each corner, each highlighted with an eight-pointed star on octagonal ivory ground; the front composed of three drawers, the upper drawers inlaid with rosettes within eight-pointed star patterns on ivory ground, the lower drawer with a register of similar motifs surrounded by a circular band of triangles contained in octagonal medallions, each with ivory knops; the back with intricate interlocked straps enclosing further radiating patterns, the edges inlaid with ivory and dark hardwood wedges
