Lot Essay

The style of the illuminated borders of this album can be compared to that of the Nasir al-Din Shah album with its large paper cut-out laid down on colourful margins. The album was made in 1888 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Nasir al-Din Shah's accession to the throne.
