QAJAR IRAN, 19TH CENTURY
Opaque pigments on paper, depicting the fierce engagement of the Safavid army to the left and Ottoman forces supported by heavy artillery to the right, the central field depicting Shah Isma'il dealing a lethal blow to an opponent, slightly above, a mounted Ottoman officer is preceded by two footmen carrying ceremonial axes, possibly Sultan Selim I, between gold rules, with white margins
