QAJAR IRAN, ONE DATED AH 1296/1878-79 AD
Comprising a large panel in black shikasteh script written diagonally over a cream ground illuminated with gold and polychrome palmette scrolls, illegible signature (Ghulam Reza?) and date of AH [12]96 in the lower corner, laid down on card with marbled paper borders; and a calligraphic panel in ghubari script arranged in a larger calligraphic composition reading ‘bi mawaqi’ al-nujum’, between gold frames, laid down on card with marbled paper borders
The largest calligraphy 8 7/8 x 6in. (22.5 x 15.3cm.); panel 17 x 13 5/8in. (43.3 x 34.6cm.)
