Lot Essay

The inscription cartouche above Nur 'Ali Shah reads tasvir-e nur ‘ali shah which translates as 'Image of Nur ‘Ali Shah'. Nur ‘Ali Shah (d.1798) was master of the Ni’matullahi Sufi order.
