In his article noted above, Brian Morehouse groups together a number of rugs of similar design and construction choosing to attribute them to the Menderes valley rather than specifically to Dazkiri, a town at the Eastern end of the valley. In his caption to the photograph of the present rug, the author attributes it to the Dazkiri-Afyon area in the same Menderes valley as Dazkiri and describes it as falling into the more conventionally designed group of rugs which are denoted by the tassels within the field. A rug of similar design sold in these Rooms, 16 October 2003, lot 67.
