A RARE CARVED YAOZHOU PEAR-SHAPED VASE
NORTHERN SONG DYNASTY (960-1127)
The vase is exquisitely carved around the pear-shaped body with a broad frieze of peony scroll below a row of pendent and upward lappets encircling the slender tapering neck. It is covered with an olive-green glaze suffused with fine crackles and pooling to a darker tone in the recesses.
