JIAQING PERIOD (1796-1820)
The surcoat is embroidered with four roundels of front facing five-clawed dragons striding amidst multi-coloured clouds. The shoulder roundels are further embroidered with the symbol for sun and moon.
57 3/4 in. (146 cm.) wide.

The symbols for the sun and moon within the shoulder roundels on this surcoat suggest that this would have been made for the Emperor.
