Flanked by upright fantastic beast head handles, painted after Rembrandt with a self-portrait and his spouse Saskia in the scene of the Prodigal son in the tavern, identified in German on the underside, within a finely tooled foliate cartouche, the cover, neck and socle similarly gilt with stiff-leaf tips
