The present pair of cabinets are first documented in the collection of Anton Lanckoronski, of the celebrated Polish aristocratic family.  Assembled over several generations, the Lanckoronski collection comprised important Old Master Pictures, sculpture, furniture and works of art. In the 1890s, the family’s collection was moved to the splendid Palais Lanckronoski, on Vienna’s prestigious Jacquingasse, not far from the Belvedere Palace. The family’s magnificent collection was opened to the public in 1903.
