QAJAR IRAN, 19TH CENTURY
Arabic manuscript on paper, 40ff. concertina bound plus 2 fly-leaves, each folio with 2ll. of elegant black nasta'liq in white clouds reserved against gold ground surrounded by polychrome borders, one panel divided into two halves with 4ll. of nasta'liq, the final panel signed and the text on a gold ground illuminated with cobalt-blue scrolling floral vine, the opening panel with similar decoration and with two large stars flanking the calligraphy, in Safavid-style stamped, tooled and gilded morocco with floral designs, in fitted blue velvet manuscript box
