The chapters of this manuscript contain a physical description of Medina, as well as details of the various customs and rituals associated with them, including the washing of the Prophet's shrine, the lighting of candles there, the number and function of the keepers of the Prophet's shrine, the celebration of festivals such as the Prophet's mawlid and eid, as well as the ordinary practices of the people of Medina in marking births and funerals. The manuscript appears to have been written by a Sufi pilgrim and might have been used as a guide to performing the pilgrimage.
