An Edo Katana in Black Lacquer Mounts
Edo period (17th century), signed Yamato no kami Yoshimichi
Honzukuri, iori-mune, toriizori, chu-kissaki with ko-itame forging pattern with suguha tempered edge with choji midare utsuri, nioi and nie and a small rounded tip, the tang ubu with kiri file marks and two holes, one plugged, machi okuri
The koshirae comprises a black-lacquer saya finished to resemble baleen fitted with an extended silver kojiri carved with crashing waves, the fuchi-kashira matching, tsuba silver carved with crashing waves and with plovers in iroe takazogan, menuki shakudo nananko-ji fans with gold and shakudo takazogan dragons, Edo period (18th-19th century)
