ONE GEORGE II, THE OTHER VICTORIAN IRISH
The first an oval silver-mounted tortoiseshell snuff box with stand-away hinge, unmarked, circa 1730, the cover with pinned-on oval plaque engraved probably in the early 19th century with the badge of The Black Watch and 42 between thistle sprays above 42nd. Highlanders; the other snuff box by Henry Flavelle, Dublin, 1841, rectangular, cut-cornered, with engine-turned sides and agate top, gilt interior, base inscribed The Gift of John Macartney, Fifteenth Hussars, 29th May, 1844
