Lot Essay

These sandstone concretions were formed in mineral rich waters 30 million years ago, known as gogottes. They are much prized for their sculptural-like appearance. The current example resembles a centaur when viewed from a variety of angles, and is one of the most elegant and dynamic specimens to come to market recently.
