Lot Essay

Neal & Back note the existence of three receipted accounts from Philip Gandon retained in the archives at Blair Castle. One of these dated 2 March 1754 lists a number of orders and transactions including one dated to 30 July 1753 "For stocking & made new silver furniture a Waterpan Lock false britch(?) & Bolts to a Water Barrel" at a cost of £8. 8. 0. It is possible that this refers to the present lot.
