A FINE GOLD-MOUNTED PRESENTATION SWORD
BY THE GOLDSMITHS & SILVERSMITHS COMPANY, LONDON, LONDON ASSAY MARKS FOR 1900
With bright 31 ½ in. (80 cm.) etched blade bearing the presentation inscription 'TO MAJ. GEN. R.S.S. BADEN-POWELL FROM THE WOMEN OF BRITAIN IN MEMORY OF MAFEKING', and a cartouche on each face titled 'DAILY EXPRESS', ivory grip-scales, 15ct gold mounts including guard with enamelled ribbons respectively stating '1899-1900' and 'MAFEKING' with the monogram 'BP' between on each side, and bullion sword knot
