Each painted in sepia with a famous building, within a blue ribbon-tied surround, further decorated with trompe l'oeil pearl strands, titled to the undersides Badenburg, Apollotempel, Burg Karlstejn, Kirche von Planegg, Prinz Carl Palais, Magdalenenkapelle, Schloß Dachau, Pagodenburg, Schloss Fürsteneck, Amalienburg and Schloß Nymphenburg

Lot Essay

The 'Royal Bavarian' or 'Pearl' pattern was first designed by the sculptor, Dominikus Auliczek (1734-1804) circa 1795. It was the first known example of a dodecagonal shape in porcelain, and was created for the Royal Wittelsbach family.
