RARE ROUSSEAU
The beautiful Rousseau Chambertin label is believed to have been introduced in 1953. However, regarding these bottles, it is believed that André Simon had a trade agreement with the Domaine, then under the charge of Armand Rousseau himself, to ship and distribute their own bottlings. Today the Domaine continues to be owned and run by the Rousseau family, including the retired Charles Rousseau, who would have been involved in the making of the 1953 Chambertin. The Domaine's vineyard holdings have risen from 6ha in the 1950's to over 15ha today, including 2.15ha in Chambertin, 1.4ha of Chambertin Clos de Bèze and 1.06ha of the monopole Clos des Ruchottes-Chambertin.

These bottles were recently removed from a damp, country house cellar, where they had lain undisturbed for over 50 years.
Now lying in Corsham, Wiltshire (Octavian)
