(LOTS 115-133 INCLUSIVE) Christie’s is delighted to offer this selection of thangkas and Buddhist gilt bronzes, kept at Stockton House in Wiltshire for many years. Cheng Huan began his collection over forty years ago buying from reputable London and Hong Kong dealers and international auction houses including Christie's. Initially, he focused on jade carvings but from around 1990 turned his collecting sights to Buddhist art.

TIBET, 18TH-19TH CENTURY
The protector deity is depicted with wild, flowing hair and a fierce expression on his face. He is brandishing a vajra-hammer in his left hand and a vajra-hook in his right, suppressing a prostate figure, with a makara-faced deity swimming amidst a sea of blood at the lower left.
