A HARDSTONE-INLAID LACQUER SCREEN
19TH CENTURY
The front of the screen is decorated with ladies and boys at play in a fenced garden between a register of birds and a register of mythical beasts. The scene is inlaid with various hardstones, bone, and mother of pearl with gilt highlights on black lacquer. The reverse is decorated with gilt flower sprays on a brown lacquer ground.
Each panel 55 5/8 in. (141.2 cm.) high; 10 ½ in. (26.7 cm.) wide

The collection of Barone Angelo Pezzino di Geronimo, assembled circa 1950.
